may mixtape: email #6
Alternate subject line: Songs I am listening to in this transitional season of spring into summer with a hint of melancholy, nostalgia, curiosity for what's next. Songs that serve as friendly companions should you find yourself in a car that has windows that roll down on a night when the air feels like the perfect kind of nothing.
Alternate to the alternate subject line: The offering of a writer who feels like there is much to say and nothing to say and cannot currently reconcile those two feelings. In the words of my wisest friend Helena, "Sometimes you can’t write; you’re busy becoming the person who will be able to write the next thing." Until then, some treats for your ears.
“What Do I Do” by Sarah Jarosz
“The Valley” by the Wailin' Jennys
“The Way to Go” by Jill Andrews
“Meek; Wild” by Brooke Waggoner
“Pressure Machine” by the Killers
“Anywhere” by Madison Cunningham
I hope these songs, whether new to your ears or old treasures, find you just where you need to be found.
Thank you for being here and please feel free to send me a note if you have any thoughts to share, or just to say howdy. I’ll try to write again soon.
Peace & love,
KM
